Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are requesting more time to settle their custody battle.The duo, who have been locked in divorce negotiations over their six children, have asked for more time with their private judge so they can come to an agreement.The Blast is reporting that Jolie has filed a stipulation to extend the appointment of Honorable John Ouderkirk who is overseeing the custody part of their divorce.Ouderkirk was hired by the actors privately and Jolie reportedly wants to make sure he handles the potential private custody trial as well as pre-trial motions and requests.It seems the former couple are trying their best to get the custody battle resolved before it goes to trial.It was reported last week that they want to avoid taking it to trial as they 'realize the ongoing fight is only hurting the children.'According to the outlet's sources, the 54-year-old actor and 43-year-old actress aim to 'wrap up negotiations before the private custody trial begins.'Despite Jolie fighting for Pitt to receive minimal custody, the new agreement is likely to include a 'substantial amount of time given to the World War Z star.'Once the custody part of the divorce is out of the way next up will be their finances. It remains unclear how the two will divide up their millions of dollars in cash and property.
The couple did not sign a prenup when they wed on August 23, 2014 in France. According to US Weekly reports last week, Pitt had reached out to his estranged wife asking to settle out of court.The A River Runs Through It actor hoped 'persuade' her that a 'hearing will cause lasting psychological damage' to their kids, the outlet's source revealed.They are parents to six children: Maddox, 17; Pax, 14; Zahara, 13; Shiloh, 12; twins Knox and Vivienne, 10.US Weekly's insider added: 'There will be no winners, no matter what the judge decides.' The couple got engaged in April 2012, and married on August 23, 2014, after nine years together.Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on September 19, 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. Just days before the filing there was an alleged 'altercation' that involved Brad and Maddox aboard a private jet that was heading from Nice, France to Los Angeles, California.Brad was cleared of any wrongdoing.

The estranged spouses are currently scheduled to go to trial on December 4, but we’re told both parties are working together to come to an agreement before the court date. A source close to Jolie also tells us she’s not fighting for sole custody, as some outlets have reported, and her “goal is that the kids have a relationship with their father.” On Monday, the exes filed court documents requesting to extend the appointment of Judge Ouderkirk as a temporary judge in their case through June 30, 2019. The retired judge, who’s handled all pre-trial issues between the exes, is expecting to oversee their case privately and not in a public courthouse. Gossip Cop, however, is told that the December 4 court date will only commence if the two can’t hash out a custody agreement prior to it.Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences, and the two have been fighting over custody and money ever since. This past June, a judge ruled that the actress could lost primary custody of her six kids if she didn’t allow them to spend more time with their father. In August, the actress filed papers accusing Pitt of not paying any “meaningful child support” in the time since they separated.The actor’s lawyers dismissed the claim, calling it “a thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage.” Pitt’s team further stated that he’s paid more than $1.3 million for the kids and also loaned his estranged wife $8 million to buy a home. They were reported to have reached an interim custody agreement regarding their six children in late summer. But negotiations appear to have broken down, and next month, the couple will ask a judge to rule on the custody battle over their six children, as well as their shared property, after it was revealed they had no prenup. The celebrity exes have filed paperwork in Los Angeles asking to be given until next June to hash out the details of their split with the help of a retired private judge.The proceedings will take place behind closed doors with Jolie seeking sole custody of the children while Pitt wants shared custody.The two, met on the set of the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, married in an intimate ceremony on August 23, 2014 in Correns, France, and separated in September 2016.
