OK! magazine’s truly embarrassing recent run of cover stories continues this week with a ghastly, sensationalized scare piece about Angelina Jolie’s allegedly “tragic health news.”According to the tabloid, which sold its readers a 100 percent false story about Jolie expecting twins three months ago, doctors fear the actress is now “risking her life.”How so?OK! fails to say, really.Jolie apparently is showing “surprising gauntness just six months after her preventative cancer surgery,” says the magazine.“With everything she’s put her body through — the surgery and the stress of [directing] this movie [Unbroken] — she’s really defying her doctor’s orders and putting her life in danger by not eating or sleeping,” a so-called “insider” tells OK! The mag’s source adds that Brad Pitt has told her “she’s way too thin right now. It’s really driving him crazy. He’s been telling her for years to stop starving herself, but she just doesn’t listen. It’s nothing short of tragic that she doesn’t take care of her health.” In other words, there’s NOTHING NEW HERE.Before Jolie went public with her surgery, OK! was blathering about how her weight had plummeted as she allegedly starved herself.Tabloids have been making bogus claims about Jolie’s supposed extreme weight loss for years — and yet she remains active, healthy, and pretty much the same weight as always. This cover story is just empty alarmism from an outlet that owns a terrible recent track record with Jolie stories.A source close to Jolie tells Gossip Cop it’s “totally off base.”

Angelina Jolie’s Breast Implants Ruining Her Life: Pain, Leaking and Infection are Constant Concerns

About six months ago Angelina Jolie underwent that double mastectomy after finding out that her chances of getting breast cancer were ridiculously high. At the time her doctors suggested that she wait about six months before undergoing any kind of reconstructive surgery but Angie instead had her breast implants done immediately. I guess that she believed that if she got everything over with then it would make it easier to go back to work in less time.Instead, according to the Nov. 11th print edition of Star magazine Angie is really regretting her decision. Apparently she is having a lot of chest, shoulder and back pain leading her to fear that she’s constantly teetering on the edge of infection. Angie’s afraid that she didn’t really think things through enough and made the wrong decision. She was so focused on just getting everything over with that at the time it never occurred to her that she could end up having complications.Angie is also worried that the implants are slowly leaking and are ultimately going to require more surgery which is ironic since a second surgery was what she was trying to avoid in the first place! Do you think that Angie was foolish not to take her doctor’s advice and wait until her chest healed before having the reconstructive surgery done? If she really believes that she made a mistake then do you think that she’ll also decide to share this part of her experience with the public as a cautionary tail? If everything else was important enough to share then wouldn’t this be as well?

'Angelina Jolie Effect' Still Having an Impact on Breast Cancer

In May, actress Angelina Jolie stunned the world when she revealed that she'd undergone a preventive double mastectomy after genetic testing showed she was at a high risk for developing breast and ovarian cancer.Since her disclosure, there has been a marked increase in genetic testing at treatment centers across the country, according to the National Society of Genetic Counselors. The increase is being called "the Angelina Jolie effect," although one doctor sees it a bit differently. "I really think of it as the Angelina gift, it is really kicking up the whole conversation," said Dr. Marisa Weiss, director of breast health outreach at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pa., and president and founder of Breastcancer.org.Jolie revealed in a New York Times Op-Ed she made her decision to have a mastectomy after discovering she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation, the single rare gene mutation that produces a high risk of developing cancer. One in 800 to one in 1,400 women are carriers of this mutation and the BRCA 1 and BRCA2 gene mutations account for between five and 10 percent of all breast cancer cases, according to the National Cancer Institute.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month kicks off today, the doctor who performed Jolie's double mastectomy, Dr. Kristi Funk, of the Pink Lotus Breast Cancer Center in Beverly Hills, is speaking out about what every woman should know about the BRCA gene mutation and breast cancer."Genetic testing is easily done through a blood sample or just a swish-and-spit with Scope," Funk said today on a special "go pink" edition of " Good Morning America.""The question becomes difficult when you try to say who is appropriate for testing so that is where the education really needs to step up," said Funk, who also believes that many more people may carry a BRCA mutation than current estimates suggest. "Of all Americans, one million of us carry a BRCA1 mutation but it will take 19 million high-risk people to find the one million. And those 18 million people then who don't have BRCA1 are high enough risk to test." Funk's Pink Lotus clinic offers a five-question assessment on its website that takes one minute to complete and determines if testing is right for you.The genetic risks for the BRCA1 gene mutation, according to Funk, go all the way back to third generation relatives on both the maternal and paternal sides of a woman's family."What you're looking for is for one of those relatives to either have breast cancer prior to age 50 or ovarian cancer at any age," Funk said on "GMA." "Dad can pass this gene down too." According to Breastcancer.org, a number of steps can lower someone's breast-cancer risk immediately. Those include limiting alcohol intake, maintaining a healthy weight, exercising three to four hours per week and avoiding cooking in plastics.

Angelina Jolie is set to sign a book deal worth over £30 million. The 38-year-old star - who underwent a double mastectomy in February - is reportedly the subject of a bidding war for the rights to her autobiography, and the battle has already hit around £31 million. A source at one US publisher told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: ‘’Whoever gets her will be sitting on a gold mine. Her book is guaranteed to top the bestseller lists in virtually every country on the planet and even an advance of that size would be recouped within weeks.’’ A friend of the ‘Salt’ actress - who has six children, Maddox, 12, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, seven, and five-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne with fiance Brad Pitt - revealed Angelina thinks ‘’the time is now right’’ to pen her book, and she won’t be holding back. The insider said: ‘’She has always wanted to do this and believes the time is now right ... She has never known such peace and fulfilment in her life. There are demons in her past but she is in a place mentally and spiritually where she feels comfortable enough to write about them honestly and put them in context. No issues - apart from those that might damage her children’s privacy - will be taboo.’’
