Award-winning star Angelina Jolie has confessed she turned to acting simply to help her late mother Marcheline Bertrand pay her bills.The Academy Award-winning star says despite the success she's enjoyed during her career, she has never truly felt at home in front of the camera.She explained: "There's a lot that's not in my nature to be an actor."I'm very happy that I was able to be one - I'm very lucky and very fortunate - but I realised how much it was for my mother when she passed away, because I felt very differently about it as soon as she was gone."I think, when I started acting, it was a good means to an end. It was a job, and I wanted to help my mom with bills."It was a creative job, something where you get to explore different times in history, different people, different sides of yourself, learn different skills, so it's a wonderful job to have as you grow and as you learn as a person. But you also are not those people."Jolie, 42, conceded she's struggled to cope with the pressures of fame during her time in Hollywood.The actress-turned-director said that when she first emerged on the scene, she was too inexperienced in life to deal with the scrutiny she faced.Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Jolie reflected: "You're young and you don't know exactly who you are, yet you also get a microphone in front of your face, and you're 17, 18, and people are asking you your opinions, and you haven't formed them yet."In the late 90s, Jolie even briefly turned away from the movie business, as she attended New York University.Of that experience, she recalled: "I was ready to kind of have a different life ... I'd done what everybody said you should do - become an actor. This is what should make you happy, right ...? I was miserable. I was completely unhappy."

Angelina has been busy as usual, having directed the recently released drama, First They Killed My Father.The film was based on the memoir of the same name by Loung, which was published in 2000 and is about her childhood under the Khymer Rouge regime.First They Killed My Father stars Sareum Srey Moch as Loung. The accomplished actress-turned-director will be releasing another film soon later this month.Angelina's next film, The Breadwinner, follows a young girl in Afghanistan who turns to disguising herself as a boy in order to provide for her family after her father is arrested.The animated movie will be released on November 17 and features the voices of Saara Chaudry and Laara Sadiq.

Angeline looked overjoyed as she danced on stage, swaying from side to side alongside Agnès.The Tomb Raider actress was exquisitely dressed for the occasion in a flowing cream frock with an array of sequins.She wore her brunette tresses down and had bold red lipstick on.Agnès looked proud as she was presented with the award, wearing a floral print dress and multi-colored scarf. The director released her first film in 1955, called La Pointe Courte. Her most recent work is the movie, Faces Places; it was awarded Best Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival.She spoke about her honorary Oscar to Variety: 'I never thought that people of Hollywood would like my work.'Adding: 'I really love making films,' she told the website.
