Don't expect Jon Voight to retire anytime soon — he's waiting for the perfect role in an Angelina Jolie film. The 82-year-old Academy Award-winner opened up to Ben Mankiewicz on CBS Sunday Morning, reflecting on his film career, his political views and a dream partnership with daughter Jolie, 45. "You have to be proud that your daughter followed in your footsteps and is so good at this, not just as an actor but as a writer, director, too," said Mankiewicz. In addition to scoring a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted, Jolie has directed six films including First They Killed My Father (2017) and In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011). "Yeah, she's really remarkable," answered Voight. "She's got her own thing, man. She's got her own way of dealing with things, you know? She's very clear." As to whether Voight has interest in acting under Jolie's direction, he laughed. "She would be tough! But yes, of course, I would love to work with her." A hypothetical partnership would follow their acting collaboration in the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. However, the relationship between Voight and Jolie has wavered — last year in a written New York Times article, the actress remembered her mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007, while noting her troubled marriage. "When my father had an affair, it changed her life," wrote Jolie. "It set her dream of family life ablaze. But she still loved being a mother. Her dreams of being an actor faded as she found herself, at the age of 26, raising two children with a famous ex who would cast a long shadow on her life. After she died, I found a video of her acting in a short film. She was good. It was all possible for her." Jolie and Voight were also estranged for a long time— the actress was a toddler when her parents split and communication with her father was inconsistent during adulthood. In 2002, Jolie legally changed her name to omit "Voight" amid claims that Jolie did not allow Voight to see his grandson Maddox. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jolie responded by stating: ”I don’t want to make public the reasons for my bad relationship with my father…. After all these years, I have determined that it is not healthy for me to be around my father, especially now that I am responsible for my own child.”.However, in 2010, Jolie's then-husband Brad Pitt encouraged a reconciliation that sparked a new relationship. “He’s been very good at understanding they needed their grandfather at this time,” Jolie told Vanity Fair of her father in 2017. “I had to do a therapy meeting last night and he was just around. He knows kind of the rule—don’t make them play with you. Just be a cool grandpa who’s creative, and hang out and tell stories and read a book in the library.” In the CBS interview, Voight, a fierce supporter of former President Donald Trump also defended his personal politics, which he shares on social media and through professional projects. Voight's latest film Roe V. Wade, about the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion, has been criticized as propaganda with "poor production." "I'm a conservative, as you know, and I'm not so happy with government involvement in anything," said Voight. "I'm very concerned about our country. I'm very concerned about this attack on free speech. I don't like it that we can't sit down and talk about everything. We're all unique. There's no one that's different or better or whatever it is. We all are unique."

Report Alleges Angelina Jolie Is A ‘Neighbor From Hell’

This week, a magazine makes the claim that Angelina Jolie and kids are making life hell for their neighbors with noise and chaos. This isn’t the first time the claim has been made either. Gossip Cop investigates.Life & Style dedicates it’s cover this week to “neighbors from hell” and in included some of the biggest celebrity names in its report. One that jumped out to us was Angelina Jolie. Jolie, of course, is as famous for being a mom to six kids as she is for being of Hollywood’s most in-demand actresses. According to the magazine’s source, those kids are making life impossible for her neighbors. “Her house is like a carnival,” the source complains, “The kids are so loud.” It Could Get Worse.“The summers are the worst,” says the source, “because they’re all outside screaming and shouting, playing music and hanging with friends.” The source then goes to explain it’s not just the kids partying and blasting tunes. “There are strange smells that sometimes waft over,” explains the nosy tattler, “Maybe it’s because they have so many pets!” We’ve Heard This All Before.Tabloids aren’t exactly known for their originality or their creativeness (except when making up stories). In fact, the supermarket market media is pretty well known for recycling old claims, when they’ve run out of new ideas to invent and this is just such a story. In fact, last July, Gossip Cop debunked a story in the Globe that accused Jolie of being the “neighbor from Hell-ywierd.” Sound familiar? Well, it turns out Life & Style and the Globe are owned by the same parent company and this is clearly one tabloid, bereft of ideas turning to a sister publication for creative inspiration. As we pointed out when we busted that false claim, Jolie’s house sits on a huge property, surrounded by privacy hedges, walls, and fences. Unless those kids are holding concerts and monster truck rallies, it’s unlikely the neighbors would ever hear a peep. Not to mention that (and this) claim come in the middle of a pandemic when almost all families, Jolie’s included, have lived under a quarantine, so the idea that they would be throwing parties with friends is completely far-fetched.Not Surprising.Of course, Angelina Jolie finds herself in the tabloids all the time. Whether it’s related to her divorce from Brad Pitt or something like this, playing on her reputation as a Hollywood hellraiser – a reputation that Jolie herself has long moved past – the gossip media loves to invent wild stories about the actress that have no basis in reality. The fact is, as Jolie herself discussed in a recent interview, life has been pretty challenging, but isolating in this year+ of Covid, making time timing of these claims even more dubious. The truth is, you can’t trust what the supermarket tabloids claim, ever.

Jolie and Pitt's final additions to their family, daughter Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox, were their only biological offspring. The actor's outing comes amid her ongoing custody battle with her estranged husband. The couple tied the knot in 2014 after several years of dating, before separating in 2016.The couple's split kicked off a still-ongoing custody battle concerning the welfare of their adopted and biological children.Earlier this year, Jolie filed legal paperwork alleging that the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood subjected her and the couple's kids to acts of domestic abuse during the span of their relationship. The actress agreed to provide testimony to back up her claims, and noted that several of her children would do the same.In March, the couple's eldest child, Maddox, appeared in court to give his opinion on the matter and did not paint his estranged father in a positive light.Shortly after the 19-year-old told the authorities about his perception of the actor's behavior, a source spoke to Us Weekly and noted that what was stated in court did not bode well for the performer's future. 'Maddox has already given testimony as [an] adult in the ongoing custody dispute and it wasn’t very flattering toward Brad,' they said.'He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support,' the source added.

If parents everywhere had a mantra, it could be, “You gotta do what you gotta do.” In other words, whatever is the kids’ best interest goes, and in this way, the stars are just like us. Take Angelina Jolie. For a time, she had to give up directing, which she loves, in favor of acting, specifically for the upcoming film Those Who Wish Me Dead, an action thriller in which she plays a firefighter. She made the change from director back to acting because she “needed to be home,” as she told Entertainment Weekly while on a press tour for the film. As recently as 2017, Jolie was on a directing kick, with films like Unbroken and First They Killed My Father, but says that she hasn’t been able to take on another such project due to her “family situation,” likely referring to her drawn-out divorce from Brad Pitt. “I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that’s not made it possible for me to direct for a few years,” she told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Tuesday. “I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That’s really the truth of it.” Jolie and Pitt’s divorce has now extended nearly five years; she first filed in September 2016. Though they have a private judge, select moments from the case have leaked, usually details in the tussles over custody of their six children. Most recently, Jolie volunteered to testify about domestic violence claims. A source familiar with the case told V.F. at the time that the accusations of domestic violence “were reported to the authorities and thoroughly investigated before concluding no wrongdoing, and therefore, no action was taken. These have been the same attacks repeated for the past four and a half years.” After it leaked that Jolie might testify, a source close to Pitt told Page Six that he felt the leak was intentional to sway trial outcomes and that he was feeling “more and more isolated from his children, and he’s devastated about it.” Neither Jolie nor Pitt’s camp has confirmed whether the judge ever called her to testify.

Angelina Jolie has stated that she stepped back from directing to return to acting due to 'a change in her family situation'. After establishing herself as one of the most bankable box office stars in the early 2000s, she largely devoted the 2010s to directing, although she has now insisted that a continued pursuit of directing has become 'impossible'.The star made her directing debut in 2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey, followed by 2014's Unbroken, By the Sea in 2015 and First They Killed My Father in 2017.While she did not specifically detail what the 'change' is, Angelina, 45, has been engaged in a lengthy custody battle with ex-husband Brad Pitt since 2016, following their split after more than a decade together and over two years of marriage. When asked about her shift towards acting in favor of directing, Angelina said the move was due to her family, but directing is still a passion for her.She candidly told Entertainment Weekly: 'I love directing, but I had a change in my family situation that's not made it possible for me to direct for a few years.'I needed to just do shorter jobs and be home more, so I kind of went back to doing a few acting jobs. That's really the truth of it.'19:00:46and Brad have been at war over their kids for five years, Brad striving for 50/50 custody with Angelina wanting full physical custody. They announced their split in 2016 and were legally divorced in 2019, but things are far from amicable between the pair as she continues to allege abuse. She has six children, three of which - Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, and Zahara, 16 - were adopted, and three with Brad - Shiloh, 14 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. As kids Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne, are minors, both Brad and Angelina would need to grant permission for them to testify but Maddox, Zahara and Pax are all over 18 so would be free to make statements. The By the Sea filmmaker previously admitted she thinks she's 'lacking' in the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home parent. She said in February: 'I was never very good at sitting still. I feel like I'm lacking in all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mom.'Even though I wanted to have many children and be a mom, I always imagined it kind of like Jane Goodall, traveling in the middle of the jungle somewhere. I didn't imagine it in that true, traditional sense.'The actress has two live-action movies coming out this year - the first time that has happened for her since 2010, when she had Salt and The Tourist. Those Who Wish Me Dead debuts in theaters and on HBO Max on May 14, with her highly-anticipated debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Eternals arriving November 5. Angelina's new film First They Killed My Father also marks her return to stunt work, adding how much she admired writer-director (and former actor) Taylor Sheridan's voice, which drew her to the film. She said: 'He has a unique voice when it comes to characters within America, which had not been a prior focus of my work. I wanted to be in this world with him.She added that her experience as a director has also changed her approach as an actor as well.Angelina added: 'In very technical terms, I'm more aware of what the director needs, and what other challenges they're facing, and how many different pieces are moving...'Maybe when you're younger and you're having a huge day where you have to be cold and wet and emotional and crying, you're thinking about those things...'Now you've directed and you're older, and you realize that while you are going to be freezing and crying, there's also pyrotechnics going on, or multiple other situations. It pulls you out of yourself'.
