Angelina Jolie cut a stylish figure as she stepped out with her daughter Vivienne to head to her new studio in New York City on Thursday. The actress, filmmaker and humanitarian, 48, looked undeniably chic in a black cut-out midi dress while leaving her hotel in the Big Apple. Angelina was joined by her teenage daughter, 15, who donned a purple T-shirt and taupe wide-legged trousers. The pair were seen entering Jean-Michel Basquiat's final New York Apartment and Studio in Soho after signing an eight-year lease on the property. Angelina has been spotted in New York several times in recent days, following news earlier this month that she had joined the Broadway-bound production of the musical The Outsiders as a lead producer. The short-sleeved item showcased the brunette beauties toned and tattooed arms, and she wore it bra-free. She flashed some flesh thanks to chic cutouts in the dress highlighting her sides and back. Angelina wore her long blond-highlighted brunette locks cascading down her shoulders with a side part, which framed her cool black sunglasses. She carried a black jacket on her arm, along with a quilted black clutch, and she stood tall in pointy black heels. The By The Sea writer, director and star completed her look with small gold-framed diamond earrings. Angelina appeared to be heading out solo, but she has been seen earlier this month in the company of her children, including her 19-year-old son Pax and her 15-year-old daughter Vivienne. It's not clear if her other children will be joining her in New York City, as she was seen arriving at JFK Airport earlier this week with just the two flanking her. olie's sighting on Wednesday with Vivienne follows news that she has hired her daughter as an assistant on The Outsiders.According to ET, Vivienne will be Angelina's volunteer assistant, presumably meaning the daughter of the wealthy actress won't be paid. 'Viv reminds me of my mother [Marcheline Bertrand] in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,' Angelina told the outlet via a statement. 'She's very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.'
A source added that Vivienne 'loves musical theater' and that she and her mother have been going to productions 'since she was a little girl.' The Outsiders is inspired by the film of the same name, which was co-written and directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, as well as the novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton, who co-wrote the film's screenplay. The movie divided critics at the time, though it has been more warmly received in recent years, and it is considered a key text in the filmography of the 'Brat Pack,' a group of young actors who often starred in coming-of-age films in the 1980s, several of whom became major stars. The Outsiders was a who's-who of soon-to-be A-listers when it was released in 1983, and its ensemble cast featured Diane Lane, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Emilio Estevez, C. Thomas Howell, Ralph Macchio and even Tom Cruise, who had a small role. The musical premiered on the West Coast at the La Jolla Playhouse earlier this year, and a source told ET that Angelina and Vivienne 'both fell in love' with it upon seeing the show. 'Angelina and Vivienne subsequently met with S.E. Hinton, who was around Vivienne's age when she wrote the novel,' the insider claimed. 'As a result of seeing the show and the conversation with S.E. Hinton, Angelina was inspired to take a role as a lead producer for the upcoming launch on Broadway.' So far, a premiere date and a cast for the Broadway edition have not been announced. 'I hope to be able to contribute while continuing to learn from this amazing team, who I have been working with since my daughter brought me to see the show at La Jolla Playhouse,' Angelina said in a statement earlier this month. 'I can't begin to express how excited I am for this musical to make its Broadway debut and look forward to sharing this new adaptation of The Outsiders with the world.'

It appears as though A-list actress and director Angelina Jolie is slowly but surely turning her career in Hollywood into a family affair. After sons Maddox and Pax worked in the assistant director department for her upcoming drama war film Without Blood, daughter Vivienne will now be by her mother's side as her volunteer assistant for the new Broadway musical The Outsiders, for which Jolie is serving as lead producer. With much to do ahead of the Broadway venture, which is an adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel and Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 film and her new clothing brand Atelier Jolie, the Maleficent star has been spotted taking care of business across New York City in recent days. On Wednesday, Jolie was seen making the rounds in the artsy Soho neighborhood of Downtown Manhattan with Pax, who's also been working secretly as an artist under the name Embtto, according to Page Six. Their time together came one day after the Oscar-winning actress spent much of her Tuesday in Soho with Vivienne. The always stylish Jolie, 48, looked New York fashionable in all-black for her day with Pax, 19, consisting of slacks with a matching blazer over a blouse with lovely lace across the neckline. The protective mom led the charge out of a few different shoppes and galleries wearing sexy black heels and her brown tresses flowing long and straight past her shoulders with a part slightly off to the left. Pax opted for a casual but stylish look in black pants with a light brown sweatshirt and whit old-school Converse sneakers. He also sported a black baseball cap over his short dark hair, all while he and his mom carried bags during their afternoon outing. One of the bags Pax had appeared to have in hand was for his camera and other gear related to photography. Pax previously collaborated with his mom on First They Killed My Father (2017), shooting behind-the-scenes stills for the drama film, which is about the same job he had for Without Blood. 'We work well together. When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural,' Jolie said of Pax and Maddox's work in the assistant director department, which serves as the liaison between her job as the director and other departments of the production. Pax, the second eldest son of Jolie and ex-husband Brad Pitt, is reportedly serious about his love for art, and that he's said to be preparing for a show at a gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel.Adopted from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in March 2007, the artistic young man graduated from college in 2021. So far, it's not exactly known what type of art he's focused on, but there have been some people who have describes his style as 'abstract.' There has been speculation that the mother and son duo's visit together in New York City may be related to business involving her new clothing brand. Aptly named Atelier Jolie, the project is a creative collective that the filmmaker says is a place 'where everyone can create.' Slated to launch in the fall, Atelier will be a place 'for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers and artisans from around the world,' she added.
Years in the making, the Atelier Jolie brand will only use leftover garments, quality vintage material and deadstock (a.k.a. surplus) fabrics, according to People. The mission statement, which will include reducing waste and creating clothes that can be passed down for generations, is something that acclaimed actress has done for years. On Tuesday, Jolie looked equally New York cool in a full-length black dress for her day with her new Outsiders assistant, Vivienne, at her side. The pair were first spotted together leaving a building in Soho and then making their way to an awaiting vehicle. At certain points, The Land Of Blood And Honey writer and director had a black blazer over her shoulders, all while wearing a pair of tan heels. As for her teenaged daughter, she kept it casual in the fashion department in a white sweatshirt that was tucked into baggy black pants, along with black sneakers. Mother and daughter ended up hooking up with theater actor Anthony Norman for dinner. The trio were seen sharing welcome hugs on the street before heading into the establishment for food and drinks. In the time that they've already worked together on The Outsiders project, the mother of six says Vivienne's work ethic already reminds her of her own mom. 'Viv reminds me of my mother in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives,' Jolie said in a statement obtained by People. 'She'x very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.' Vivienne was actually the person who inspired the filmmaker to get involved with The Outsiders when she took her to see the world premiere of the show at La Jolla Playhouse in California earlier this year. That led to a meeting with author Hinton, who wrote the book as a teenager around Vivienne's age.Written by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine, the Broadway musical of The Outsiders will be directed by Danya Taymor; music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance); music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Justin Levine; and choreography by Rick Kuperman and Jeff Kuperman. 'I studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute where I realized my first love, as a performer, was the theatre,' the Academy Award winner said. 'I had not found a way back until now. I hope to be able to contribute while continuing to learn from this amazing team, who I have been working with since my daughter brought me to see the show at La Jolla Playhouse.' The Broadway cast and dates for The Outsiders musical are still pending.Along with Pax, Vivienne and Maddox, Jolie also shares three other children with ex-husband Brad Pitt that includes: Knox, 15, Shiloh, 17, and Zahara, 18.
