Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt have made Observer Media's L.A. Power 25 list, which features some of the biggest names in Hollywood. “Everyone in Hollywood is looking to buy stock in Jolie-Pitt Inc. How else to explain Netflix investing $60 million for 'War Machine,' the Pitt-produced-and-starring black comedy based on 'The Operators,' the late Michael Hastings’ book on the Afghanistan war?” Observer writes, as it describes the “Ocean's Eleven” actor and his “Unbroken” director wife.Pitt is not only an actor but also a successful film producer, investing in titles such as “12 Years a Slave,” “Selma” and “World War Z.” The newspaper notes that Pitt is “parlaying box office clout to make the most politically charged films Hollywood has seen in decades.”Pitt has also acted with Jolie Pitt in the upcoming film “By The Sea,” which Jolie Pitt wrote and directed. This will be their first movie together since 2004's “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Pitt is currently busy shooting “The Big Short,” a film by Adam McKay that exposes the Wall Street's biggest secrets.
Meanwhile, Jolie Pitt is continuing her United Nations work to highlight the plight of refugees in Syria. She is also using her celebrity status to spread awareness about breast cancer prevention. The newspaper also notes the couple's personal achievements, which include “building their kids an epic backyard skate park that runs the length of their Los Feliz manse” in Los Angeles.Other celebrities on the Observer list include Ellen DeGeneres and Shonda Rhimes. DeGeneres has been commended for her talk show and "spreading her 'everybody's buddy' vibe," while Rhimes -- producer of shows such as "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal" -- has been dubbed as the “ABC savior.”

Deborra-Lee Furness told Australia’s ‘Today’ a tip for keeping her 19-year marriage with Hugh Jackman intact — he’s not allowed to work with Angelina Jolie!Hugh Jackman, 46, and Deborra-Lee Furness, 59, have one of the longest lasting, strongest marriages in the business. But like any couple, they’ve got some ground rules to keep things running smoothly. Stopping by Australia’s Today in Melbourne for a fundraising event for Adopt Change, the couple talked to co-host Lisa Wilkinson, who asked if there’s anyone Hugh’s not allowed to work with, and Deborra-Lee had only one name on her list: Angelina Jolie, 40. Lisa was musing over the fact that for married actors, it must be anxiety-inducing to send your spouse off to work on a project where they have to be intimate with another person. “This is the toughest environment for a marriage to survive,” Lisa said. “Because on any given day you might be kissing them goodbye to go kiss someone else.”
Well that’s one way to put it! If Deborra-Lee wasn’t thinking it already, she certainly was then! Lisa then asked her if there was anyone Hugh wasn’t allowed to work with, and Deb answered so quickly that she effectively cut the interviewer off as Hugh laughed.“I’ve told his agent he can’t work with Angelina [Jolie],” she said. “I’m sure she’s very nice and I love what she’s doing, shining a light on awareness for adoption…no I’m just kidding,” she said, waving off her comments. She was totally joking about not allowing Hugh to work with Angelina! Nothing’s going to break this marriage after nearly a decade, allow we get why she made the joke; Deb’s an accomplished actress herself, and she knows what happens on set, doesn’t (always) happen IRL.Deb and Hugh followed up her little joke by going on to explain what really makes such a long and successful marriage tick: it’s about putting family first and making each other happy! The parents to Oscar, 14, and Ava, 9, never spend more than two weeks apart from each other; isn’t that romantic? “It just goes to show, if you get it right, if you pick the right partner then you traverse all those trevails and challenges,” Deborra-Lee said.

After completing their ventures across the pond, the entire family was back on US soil. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were spotted arriving at Los Angeles International Airport with their six children on Sunday.The 40-year-old actress/director held hands with daughter Vivienne as the 51-year-old actor stayed close to other daughter Zahara and the rest of their kids while making their way out of the travel hub.Angelina was dressed in her signature black, sporting some casual flight style.The mother-of-six was clad in a billowy shirt, light cardigan, fitted trousers and nude coloured ballet flats.She slicked back her long tresses in a high ponytail and covered her eyes with aviator sunglasses.Color coordinated with his beloved was husband Brad who opted for a sheer black T-shirt that showed off his muscular build.The silver fox wore a pair of dark coloured jean trousers which he styled with leather sneakers.Eldest son Maddox, 13, looked all grown up, showing his stylish flair with Obey tank top, black trousers and leather jacket.Pax, 11, Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, stayed close to one another as they kept a slight distance from their famous parents.Meanwhile, Zahara, 10, held hands with father Brad and Vivienne, 6, was right by mother Angelina's side.Angelina and Brad's London schedules were packed with high-profile meetings, including an afternoon tea with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Most recently, the couple recruited the help of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for an upcoming film By The Sea that Angelina will direct and Brad will star in.Discussing his first meeting with Brangelina in a December 2014 interview, Chris told Vulture magazine that it wasn't all as glamorous as he'd hoped.'I got a message that said, "Meet in this undisclosed location. You'll be blindfolded and picked up by seven ex-Navy SEALs," he joked.'So they kidnapped me, hit me over the head, and sprayed me with Mace. When I woke up, I was in an office, and Brad Pitt was doing push-ups as Angelina Jolie was just sitting there with her crown on.'There was also a guy holding a knife to my throat, and she said, "Write me a song, or else." Angelina Jolie is set to play the nymphomaniac Catherine the Great in a new drama about the Russian empress’s scandalous love life.The Oscar-winner has bought the rights to British historian Simon Sebag Montefiore’s bestselling book about Catherine’s ‘secret’ and very open marriage to the flamboyant and ambitious Grigory Potemkin.The character is something of a dream come true for Jolie, who has made no secret of her quest for meaty female roles. She played Queen Olympias in Oliver Stone’s 2004 Alexander The Great biopic and the title role in last year’s Maleficent – and has been on the lookout for another regal role ever since.Sebag Montefiore said: ‘I am thrilled that Angelina has optioned the book because it was my first book and it was very much a labour of love.‘Catherine is the ultimate feminist hero. I feel very safe with Angelina in charge of it.’His book, Catherine The Great And Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair, was published in 2000 and drew on 5,000 previously unpublished love letters between the pair.
Catherine ascended the Russian throne in 1762 following a coup in which her husband, Tsar Peter III, was murdered. Potemkin was one of the conspirators and Catherine’s enemies always claimed she was involved in the Tsar’s death.The Empress – whose 27-year reign is regarded as a golden era in Russian history – was also a sexually liberated woman who embarked on affairs with countless men.Her enemies used her sexual conquests against her and branded her a nymphomaniac.But the highly educated Catherine was particularly infatuated with Potemkin, with whom she enjoyed secret trysts in the sauna of St Petersburg’s Winter Palace.The couple, who were alleged to have married in secret, became co-rulers of the Russian Empire.Sebag Montefiore said: ‘Catherine and Potemkin had history’s greatest love affair. They were both brilliant people who were totally equal and totally balanced.‘They were the great loves of each other’s lives and, in effect, they were one of the most successful political couples in the whole of history. By comparison, Antony and Cleopatra were a disaster whose relationship ended with failure and suicide.’He added that Potemkin ‘was a wild character who ruled like a sultan. He travelled with gardens which were planted every night by thousands of serfs’.How much Jolie’s production company paid for the rights is being kept a commercial secret, but one source described it as a ‘high five-figure sum’.
Jolie was first linked to the role of Catherine the Great in a separate movie mooted more than a decade ago, but that never materialised. And although the actress is being linked to the role in this new production, it is also possible that she might prefer to remain behind the camera as producer. She has already directed two films, including last year’s Unbroken, and she has made no secret of the fact that she is considering giving up acting.It is also unclear whether this adaptation would be for TV or film. If Jolie does take on the role, she will be following in the footsteps of Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis, Tallulah Bankhead, Catherine Deneuve and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who have all played the Empress in the past.Bea Hemming, editorial director of Weidenfeld & Nicolson which published Sebag Montefiore’s book, said: ‘We’re delighted at the news that this magnificent biography has been optioned.‘Simon always brings the drama and intensity of cinema to his writing, so it will be thrilling to see his work brought to life on screen.’

Sleepy Hollow fans, you’re going to be sew excited about this: The Fox supernatural drama is bringing Betsy Ross into the mix for Season 3, and she’s going to be a badass.You’ll recall that the Colonial-era seamstress, whom legend says stitched together the first American flag, was first outed as one of Ichabod’s former lady friends at the end of Season 1. The show also made reference to the relationship midway through Season 2.Seems like Ichabod omitted a few details about his thread-happy old flame — because the Betsy Ross Sleepy Hollow wants to cast in a recurring capacity is a sexy, surprisingly strong spy who works within George Washington’s Culper Ring, TVLine has learned exclusively.“Think more Angelina Jolie than frumpy Martha Stewart — a kickass Mrs. Smith to Ichabod Crane’s Mr. Smith,” reads a character description making the rounds. Betsy “is ruthless, smart and fearless, adjusting to blend in to whatever the situation demands, from demure handmaiden to honeypot to cutthroat spy.”No word yet on whether Ross will appear only in flashbacks (like Michelle Trachtenberg’s Abigail Adams) or whether she’ll somehow show up in present-day (like Steven Weber’s Thomas Jefferson).Sleepyheads, who would you like to see play the cunning seamstress when Abbie and Ichabod return on Thursday, Oct. 1 (9/8c)?
