Angelina Jolie's daughter Zahara made rare public comments about her relationship with her A-list mother in a touching speech - which failed to mention her estranged father Brad Pitt two-and-a-half years after dropping his name. The 21-year-old college student spoke at a mother-daughter brunch for the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College in Atlanta on Sunday.A video posted on Facebook showed Zahara's emotional tribute to her mother as she said: 'When asked to speak with you all today on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words.'Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred, relationship that can be hard to put into words.' The aspiring actress has been estranged from her famous father and had a strained relationship with him ever since her parents split up nearly a decade ago.Zahara dropped her father's surname during her sorority induction ceremony in 2023 as she now goes by Zahara Marley Jolie. Zahara is a graduating senior at Historically Black College, Spelman College, majoring in psychology and minoring in educational studies. She continued: 'Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at 6 months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.'These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being.'Zahara went on to say that the other daughters in attendance may understand the concept of comparing their mom to a superhero as she admitted that she is still trying to completely fathom how Jolie pulls it off.She said: 'She’s the most selfless, loving and understanding woman who I get to call my mom.'Early on, I realized it would be challenging to include my mom and family in these worlds without being able to directly share the effects. With the addition of the public life that we live, it can be hard to find those special and intimate moments without being overwhelmed with the many eyes that are on us.'Zahara said that despite the public scrutiny her family has endured, Jolie has not stopped being curious about all the facets of her life including what she is learning in and out of the classroom. She continued by saying: 'My family embraces the newness and strives to understand these meaningful organizations in my life as I share my experiences' Zahara also said that watching her mother's humanitarian efforts has 'rubbed off' on her and that she has often taken on the 'second mother role' to her siblings. She is one of Jolie and Pitt's six children as any mention of Pitt was noticeably missing from the speech. The exes, who fell in love after starring in Mr. and Mrs. Smith together in 2005, also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Zahara said: 'I loved caring for my younger siblings and mirroring the care and compassion my mom showed us.'
The young woman is the vice president of the Mu Phi chapter of her sorority and said that she has been drawn to leadership roles in school thanks to her famous mother.Zahara concluded: 'Through my matriculation, I have witnessed the joy and challenges that come with mentorship and the importance of having positive role models. We all know that we do not get where we are solelyon our merit.'I think back to a quote I saw years ago that said, "I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me." Thank you, Mom.'Jolie and Pitt were together for about a decade before they tied the knot in 2014 but filed for divorce two years later in 2016.Jolie cited irreconcilable differences and later accused Pitt of abusing both her as well as their children, which he has denied. Their lengthy, contentious divorce battle was finalized eight years later in late 2024 and since then, many of their kids have dropped Pitt's surname amid their ongoing estrangement. Shiloh also now goes by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie as she filed paperwork to legally remove her estranged dad's surname from her own when she turned 18 in the summer of 2024. Then in February, Maddox dropped Pitt from his professional credits as he appeared as Maddox Jolie in the production notes for the film Couture and screenings of the movie Maria. In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie, not Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, on the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical. Pitt made a shocking remark about his family after his bitter divorce with Jolie officially came to an end but his fractured relationship with their six children remains unresolved. Pitt — who believes his relationship with two of his children is 'unfixable' — opened up about how important family is to him — amid his ongoing and escalating estrangement from his kids. Speaking at the F1 premiere in Mexico City, he said: 'No matter the mistake, you just learn from [it] and move on,' he told ET. 'It'll lead to the next success.' The Oscar winner continued, 'When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love, the people that love you back.' 'Friends, family, and that's it," he added. 'From there, we get to go make things. It’s a pretty simple, I think, equation.' The interview comes after a source exclusively told DailyMail.com how Pitt felt after Pax was pictured last month stumbling out of the Chateau Marmont, propped up by several friends. 'He has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn't do. [Pax's] actions reflect who he is,' the insider said. 'Brad honestly considers his relationship with Pax unfixable,' they added. The source went on to say that the actor doesn't appear to be planning any outreach to either of his adopted sons: 'Pax and Maddox have made it abundantly clear how they feel, and Brad has nothing to say about either of them.' As for his other children, the source said that Pitt 'holds out hope that the others will one day come around. Time heals wounds.' A source close to Jolie also hit back at her ex-husband at the time and said: 'Brad continues to play the victim. His fractured relationship with his children is a direct result of how he has treated them.'He should stop blaming others. If he wants to rebuild a relationship with the kids, he should acknowledge his own actions and make amends.'

Her locks were partially braided and pulled back away from her face, showing off her striking features just like her mothers. In another scene, the teen was spotted casually joining a group of friends inside a spacious room as they were joined by Dayoung - who is also a member of the girl group WJSN. Shiloh reportedly landed a role in the music video through an 'open audition.' 'Among those who took part were several performers affiliated with a dance crew called Culture.'The rep also shared that they didn't know Shiloh was the daughter of Jolie and Pitt during production. 'Shiloh was selected in the final round and ended up joining Dayoung's music video,' the representative stated.'Even after filming, we had no idea she was the child of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and only found out by chance quite recently.' She trains with a lot of other people. Whatever dance is for her, she is dedicated to it. That's what I love,' the choreographer further shared. While Shiloh is pursuing her passion for dance, her mother has stated that the teen doesn't necessarily want to be in the spotlight like her famous parents. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Maddox Jolie has dropped his father's last name, eight months after his sister Shiloh made the same move. The revelation was made by People on Thursday after Maddox was listed in the end credits of his mother's new movie, Couture, as Maddox Jolie, rather than Maddox Jolie-Pitt.The 24-year-old served as an assistant director on the drama, which debuted in French movie theaters earlier this week. According to publication, 'production notes for the film provided to journalists showed Maddox’s name was also listed as Maddox Jolie' when the film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. The Daily Mail has reached out to Pitt and Jolie's respective representatives for comment, but has not heard back, at this time. Previously, on Jolie's biopic, Maria, about legendary opera singer Maria Callas, Maddox, who worked as a production assistant, was credited as Maddox Jolie-Pitt.In addition to Maddox, Jolie and Pitt also share Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 19, and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Last year, Shiloh, who was born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie shortly after turning 18.At the time, in a statement shared with People, Shiloh's lawyer Peter Levine said she 'made an independent and significant decision following painful events,' adding that she was 'merely following legal process' when publishing notice of the change. 'Shiloh Jolie did not take out an "ad" announcing any name change, and any press reporting that is inaccurate,' Levine clarified, per People. 'As Shiloh's attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name. That legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Times, as is required.'One month after Shiloh filed to drop her father's last name, a source told People that Pitt's relationship with his older children remained strained.'He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule,' the insider shared.
In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie, not Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, on the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical. A year prior, Zahara, then a Spelman College student and sorority member of Alpha Kappa Mu Pi, introduced herself without using Pitt's surname. 'My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California,' she said in the clip, shared by Essence.Jolie and Pitt finalized their divorce settlement in December 2024, bringing an end to an eight-year legal battle. The split was contentious, and the former couple have also remained locked in a dispute over their French vineyard and estate after Jolie sold her reported $64 million stake to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021.At this time, neither of Maddox's parents have publicly commented on his latest credit change. In June, Pitt opened up about how important family is to him while speaking to ET at the F1 premiere in Mexico City. 'No matter the mistake, you just learn from [it] and move on,' he said. 'It’ll lead to the next success.' The Oscar winner continued, 'When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love, the people that love you back.' Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Pax Jolie-Pitt made a rare appearance at The Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Friday. In new images it was clear the son of the Hollywood greats still has scars on his face after crashing his e-bike into a car in July 2024. There were red marks on his forehead and under her eyebrow. The 22-year-old nepo kid wore a red-and-black plaid shirt over a black T-shirt with a silver toy alien necklace as he posed with co-directors Fernando Ferro and Garrett Patten at a panel for their film Self Custody at The Cabin in Park City. The movie stars Adrian Grenier and UFC fighter Henry Cejudo.Pax did not work on the film, but according to TMZ he is interested in collaborating with Ferro and Patten in the future. He has already served as an assistant on his mother's movie Maria, and was a still photographer on her project First They Killed My Father. A source told TMZ on Wednesday that Pax is 'getting into producing movies and has been in discussions with Ferro and Patten on a few future projects.' He did not work on their latest film Self Custody.Pax drove his e-bike into a car without a helmet in July 2024. He suffered 'complex trauma' in the collision with a car on July 29 in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Angelina was by Pax's side at the hospital after he crashed, TMZ claimed at the time.A source told the site that witnesses initially believed Pax had died in the crash as he laid lifeless on the ground.Pax reportedly regained consciousness after paramedics arrived on the scene.Around that time Pax was spotted on a Talaria Sting R MX4 electric bike, which costs around $3,000, though it's not known if that was the same bike he was riding during the July 2024 accident. In California, all bike (bicycle, e-bike, scooter) and motorcycle riders under 18 are legally required to wear a properly fitted and fastened helmet while on public streets, paths, or trails. Violations can result in fines of up to $25, and parents may be held responsible for children not wearing helmets.
Adults (over 18) are only required to wear helmets on motorcycles. In January 2025 Pax struck a vehicle while on his e-bike, denting its door, but appeared uninjured. He was wearing a helmet during the incident. This comes a month after claims Jolie feels 'excited' to move abroad. The 50-year-old actress has put her home in Los Angels up for sale, as she prepares for a life outside of the US.A source told People: 'She's ready for a life that isn't centered in Los Angeles.'Pitt - who was married to actor Brad Pitt between 2014 and 2019 - is now looking forward to the future with optimism. The insider explained: 'There are a lot of projects she's excited about and she's feeling good. She's looking forward to 2026 and the flexibility she'll have then.' A source previously claimed that the beauty - who has Maddox, 24, Pax, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17, with her ex-husband Pitt - has always hoped to reside outside of California. The insider told People in August that the movie star 'never wanted to live in Los Angeles full time. She didn't have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.'The source added that the actress 'plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18' in July 2026.'She's eyeing several locations abroad. She'll be very happy when she's able to leave Los Angeles,' the source added. On Wednesday Jolie made a statement on the murders in Iran as she took to Instagram: 'A seven-year-old girl at her mother’s grave. Parisa Lashkari, 30, killed during protests in Noorabad, Fars province, Iran, on January 10th.'No child should have to carry this kind of grief. May her mother’s memory be honored and may the truth be established, with protection for civilians, accountability for those responsible and greater freedom for all those who are seeking it.'
