Billy Bob Thornton waited until the year 2018 to talk about his perception of the reasons why his marriage to Angelina Jolie failed.Over the last several decades, there has been an entire industry created to make money off celebrity gossip. Ever since the first tabloid magazine rose to prominence, all of the biggest celebrities have been under the spotlight, especially when it comes to their love lives. With that in mind, it makes sense that people have forgotten about a lot of celebrity couples from the past.Given how many celebrity couples there are at any given moment, it is amazing that people care about some pairs that haven’t been together for many years. Despite that, there have been a select few short-lived celebrity couples that still fascinate people many years after they went their separate ways.Of all the celebrity couples from the past that people still bring up, it could easily be argued that the most interesting pair is Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. After all, the pair had such a passionate bond during their short-lived marriage that it seemed like they would always be together or break up in some kind of spectacular way. Fortunately, many years after Jolie and Thornton broke up, they each gave their take on the reasons for the split. Interestingly, they blamed the split for very different reasons. As of the time of this writing, Billy Bob Thornton has tied the knot with six different women. Thankfully, it certainly seems like he may have finally found the one as he has been married to the same person since 2014 and none of his other marriages lasted that long.
Sadly, in the years since Billy Bob Thornton and his first wife Melissa Lee Gatlin got divorced in 1980, things have taken a tragic turn for the child they had together. After Thornton and Gatlin split, he had no relationship with their daughter. For that reason, Thornton wasn’t in the picture when a child his daughter was babysitting lost their life after suffering a fracture to their skull. Amazingly enough, even after Thornton’s daughter was sentenced to 20 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter, his only reaction was to put out a one-sentence statement. "Anytime a baby's life is lost is an unimaginable tragedy, and my heart goes out to the baby's family and loved ones." In addition to that tragic situation, another one of Billy Bob Thornton’s relationships resulted in some very harsh feelings when it suddenly fell apart. After meeting in 1997, Thornton and Laura Dern began dating and eventually got serious enough to get engaged. Together with Thornton for three years, both actors worked consistently during their relationship so when Dern left to make a film in the year 2000, she had no idea she would be abandoned. During an appearance on The Talk, Dern said; “I left our home to work on a movie, and while I was away, my boyfriend got married, and I’ve never heard from him again.”Talk about heartless.Over the years, Angelina Jolie’s love life has been the subject of many breathless headlines. For example, to this day many people continue to believe that Jolie stole Brad Pitt away from Jennifer Aniston and hold that against her. No matter how Pitt and Jolie became a couple, the fact remains that they were together for many years before they got married in 2014 and then divorced in 2019.In addition to marrying Billy Bob Thornton, who she met while they filmed Pushing Tin, and Brad Pitt, who she met while making Mr. & Mrs. Smith together, Angelina Jolie wed another co-star. Introduced to the actor Jonny Lee Miller when they made Hackers together, Jolie married him in 1996. After only 18 months of married life, Jolie and Miller separated and then got officially divorced in 1999.In addition to the men that Angelina Jolie has married, her other notable relationship also involves another former co-star. Introduced when they made a movie called Firefox together, Jolie and the model-actress Jenny Shimizu had a lengthy relationship in the mid-‘90s.In the years since Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton broke up, a lot has been said about how the two actors behaved in other relationships. Despite that, many people still pour over the timeline of Thornton and Jolie’s marriage all of these years later. With that in mind, it makes sense that during interviews, both actors have been asked about their former relationship and why it came to an end.
During a 2005 interview with Vanity Fair, Angeline Jolie addressed her divorce from Billy Bob Thornton and blamed it on a couple of things. First off, when Jolie was asked about rumors that Thornton had been unfaithful to her while on tour with the Billy Bob Thornton Band, Angelina said she didn’t think those stories were “untrue”. From there, she seemingly blamed their divorce on her decision to adopt a child and his unwillingness to be a father. “He wasn’t, uh, ready” for adopting a child “but, uh, he sent me his love. It’s kind of uh”—she fell silent—“tragic,”.For his part, Billy Bob Thornton waited until the year 2018 to talk about his perception of the reasons why his marriage to Angelina Jolie failed. While speaking to a representative of The Hollywood Foreign Press Association for the HFPA in Conversation podcast, Thornton said; “Angie is still a friend of mine and she's a great person”. Continuing to praise his ex-wife, Thornton went on to say; “ I remember our time together as really being great”. From there, Thornton explained his take on their divorce. "We just had different lifestyles. Hers is a global lifestyle and mine is an agoraphobic lifestyle. So, that's really—that's the only reason we're probably not still together, maybe, because of a different path in life we wanted to take."

Angelina Jolie had an interesting run-in this weekend while out shopping with her son Pax.The Salt star, 45, encountered a group of animal rights activists while exiting the Urban Outfitters in West Hollywood, California on Saturday, followed by Pax, 16.Jolie was in an all-black outfit, mask included, when she crossed paths with the picketers, in matching slide shoes with a buckle. The Oscar winner also carried a small black purse with gold detailing, which she wore across her frame.Angelina's long skirt fell to her mid-calf, and she wore a long sleeved top as the weather has started cooling in Southern California. Her auburn hair was in a half-ponytail, and it hung long and straight at her shoulders. The group of demonstrators, from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), carried white signs with phrases such as 'Animals are not ours to wear' and 'This is the face of cashmere'. The photo on the sign that accompanied the latter phrase showed a sheep being shorn, while screaming.Another sign proclaimed, 'The face of fashion is fear'.As Jolie and her son left, the group entered the store and stood brandishing their signs. The mother-of-six, for her part, has long been an advocate for protesting and speaking out for one's beliefs. The one-time United Nations peace ambassador and refugee advocate in fact is currently at work on a new book with Amnesty International, focused on helping young people find their voice and power when it comes to protesting.Last week, it was announced that the work, entitled Know Your Rights (And Claim Them), has been acquired by Anderson Press. It will help children up until the age of 18 counter misinformation and let them know how to stop their rights from being violated. And on the acting front, Jolie's most recent voice role is in a film also advocating for animal rights. The animated film The One And Only Ivan, now streamable Disney+, follows a group of animals led by a gorilla named Ivan who struggle to free themselves from captivity.Additionally, Jolie has another family-friendly film ready to go – the Alice In Wonderland/Peter Pan crossover Come Away, the trailer for which premiered earlier this month. The busy actress has at least three other movies in the works, the most anticipated of which is Marvel's next hopeful tentpole The Eternals, due next November.

Stars found ways to honor their daughters for National Daughter's Day on Friday. And Angelina Jolie treated her girls Zahara and Vivienne to dinner at celebrity hotspot Craig's in West Hollywood. The Salt actress kept her look simple for the girls' night out, opting for a black sheath dress. Keeping her look simple, she carried a back and gold Valentino crossbody bag on her shoulder. She left her dark brown hair in a sleek and straight style, parted in the middle, as she covered her face in a blue medical face mask. Zahara, 15, whom Angelina adopted in 2005 at six-months-old, led her mother and sister on their way into the restaurant. She looked stylish and casual, opting for high-waisted medium wash denim jeans with distressed tears at her knees. Keeping cool, she paired the pants with a black tube top, matching face mask and white sneakers. Meanwhile Vivienne, 12, chose a beige sweatshirt, light wash jeans and matched her mom in a blue face mask. It was a girls only night, as the actress left her four other children—Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, John, 14, and Vivienne's twin brother Knox, 12— whom she shares with ex Brad Pitt, at home. This comes after the One And Only Ivan actress told E!'s Daily Pop that she loves the 'chaos' of it all with dogs running around, balls being thrown and movie nights with heaps of popcorn in her $25M Los Feliz mansion.'You know, I've never been one who valued relaxation. I like chaos,' the former model said with a laugh.'I've been on high-level meetings where there's dogs and balls and kids and things. You kind of just enjoy being human with everybody else and laughing through it.Her outing and comments come amid ongoing legal battles in her divorce from Brad.Earlier this month, reports said relations between the former couple who share six children have deteriorated to the point where they are no longer engaging in family therapy ahead of a custody trial slated for next month, UsWeekly reported Thursday. 'Brad wants 50/50 joint physical and legal custody of the kids. Angelina has been unagreeable to those terms,' a source told UsWeekly. The insider added that Jolie 'will only agree to talk about an agreement if the home base for the children isn't Los Angeles. The younger kids are in school in Los Angeles, which Angelina has always been opposed to.'It's previously been suggested that Jolie wants to relocate to the UK and base the children with her there.
