She's known to younger audiences for playing the gothic fairy Maleficent in the hugely successful Disney movie series.On Sunday, it appeared that Angelina Jolie was taking a few style notes from the character, as she opted for a dramatic, flowing black dress while out shopping at an upscale grocery store in Los Angeles. The 45-year-old movie star was joined by her 16-year-old daughter Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, who went for a much brighter look than her mother.The Salt actress looked effortlessly stylish in the flowing attire, while also wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses.Jolie adopted Zahara from an orphanage in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa in 2005 when the child was six months old. In a nod to her home country, Zahara was seen wearing a pair of earrings featuring the colors of the flag of Ethiopia.Zahara is one of six children, including her siblings Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Shiloh, 14, and 12-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.Meanwhile, Jolie has been locked in a courtroom showdown since she filed for divorce from ex-husband Brad Pitt, 57, in September, 2016 citing irreconcilable differences. The parents-of-six still have not reached a settlement on how to split their multi-million dollar fortunes or the custody of their five underage kids.One of the main assets at stake in the acrimonious divorce case is the former couple's Chateau Miraval vineyard and castle in Correns, France.Brad and Angie bought the property for $67million in 2008 and married there in August 2014.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald this weekend, the Hollywood megastar, 45, praised Marcheline for being a 'gentle' mother and said she's always tried to treat her own children with the same tenderness. 'My mother was very gentle. I can be many things in my work and in life, but I am very warm and gentle with my children,' Angelina said. 'That kindness and warmth is a foundation that's unbelievably important. She gave me many other things and taught me many lessons,' she continued. But if you don't have that base, to feel valued and safe, then it's hard for any of the other messages or lessons to land.'Marcheline died in 2007 at the age of 56 following a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. The Maleficent star also told the publication that she's stepped back from directing films to be able to focus on her six children. Jolie also offered advice to other parents hoping to raise socially conscious humans."I know this may sound strange, but don't make it a duty for them to do good or have to give back," she said. "If we can help children feel that it's not about duty or service or charity, but the joy of an interconnected life with people you respect, then it feels very different."
