Angelina Jolie was ready for action as she threw herself into her directing role on the set of upcoming film Without Blood as the cast and crew filmed at night on the streets of Rome, Italy. The screen star, 47, who is taking a step back from acting and focusing on filmmaking, appeared in her element as she got into work mode, clad with headphones and a radio. She was joined by fellow actress Salma Hayek, 55, who was seen in full costume as she filmed scenes for the movie.Angelina wore a white smock dress in the Italian capital along with a pair of sandals and, at times, a mask in a bid to keep herself and others safe from coronavirus. She was seen chatting to members of the crew and was surrounded by filming equipment on set. Salma wore a black dress and had her hair styled in waves, with her tresses pinned down by silver clips. The pair were in good spirits as they chatted during a break from filming. Without Blood is based on the international-bestselling novel of the same name by Italian writer Alessandro Baricco - with Angelina set to write, direct and produce it. While the detailed plot of the film has not been revealed, the book focuses on the brutality of war, and a young girl's search for healing after an act of violence occurs. Mexican actor Demián Bichir is also set to star in the film alongside Salma. Speaking after the film was announced, Angelina said: 'I'm honoured to be here in Italy to bring this very special material to film, and to have been entrusted by Alessandro Baricco with the adaptation of his book — with its unique poetry and emotion and way of looking at war, and the questions it poses about what we search for after trauma or loss or injustice.' Jennifer Mullin, Global CEO at Freemantle, added: 'We are excited to work with [Angelina] and the incredible international team she has assembled. In February 2017, Angelina was said to be developing Without Blood with a view to direct.

She's recently been spending time in Rome while directing new movie Without Blood.And it seems Angelina Jolie has brought her children along for the trip too, as she was spotted enjoying a day out with daughters Vivienne, 13, and Zahara, 17 - even meeting up with pal Salma Hayek later on. The Hollywood star, 47, donned a flowing sand maxi dress and high-waist trouser co-ord for the outing, with a spaghetti strap detail, showing off her tattoo decorated arms and upper back. Angelina added a pair of platformed espadrilles to her look, with a large camel handbag slung over her shoulder.Her brunette tresses were pulled away from her face in a dark claw clip, as she shielded from the Italian sun in a pair of circular framed sunglasses. Stepping out in the city, her daughter Zahara walked alongside her in a sage green sundress and a pair of black high-top Converse trainers.While Angelina's youngest daughter, Vivienne, sported a pair of grey jeans and a matching crew neck sweatshirt. All he can do is work with his legal team and file the paperwork whilst responding to her claims. Month after month goes by with one piece of red tape after another, endless jumping through hoops and bickering between their lawyers with no resolution.' Angelina Jolie got back in the director's chair for her latest film Without Blood in Rome on Wednesday.The actress, 47, who is stepping behind the camera for the first time in five years, was seen offering her guidance for star Salma Hayek as filming kicked off for the period drama in an area close to the iconic Colosseum.It comes as Angelina's ex-husband Brad Pitt revealed he has embraced a life of abstinence and sobriety after the couple's surprise divorce in 2016.Dressed for the warm Italian weather, Angelina cut an elegant figure in a relaxed white vest top and flared trousers as she arrived on set for filming.The star donned a straw hat as she directed the film's cast for the dramatic scenes.Meanwhile Salma donned a black velvet A-line dress with a white overcoat as she prepared to film the scenes on a flight of stairs in the city. Speaking to the latest edition of British GQ, Pitt, 58, insisted emotional turmoil and deep sadness are an inevitable part of growth. 'I think all our hearts are broken,' he said. 'I always felt very alone in my life, alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it's really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family. 'What's that line, it was either Rilke or Einstein, believe it or not, but it was something about when you can walk with the paradox, when you carry real pain and real joy simultaneously, this is maturity, this is growth.' Newly divorced, the actor spent 18-months attending regular Alcoholics Anonymous meetings while embracing the group's core principles of abstinence from all mind altering substances, and honesty regarding the nature of addiction. 'I had a really cool men's group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe,' he explained. 'Because I'd seen things of other people who had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that's just atrocious to me.' Pitt, a lifelong smoker, also made the decision to cut cigarettes out of his life, opting instead to substitute tobacco with nicotine flavoured gum. The actor has moved on following his divorce and has since been romantically linked with Nicole Poturalski, while winning plaudits - and awards - for his role as hapless stuntman Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
