The French film also stars Louis Garrel, Anyier Anei, Garance Marillier, and Finnegan Oldfield. It comes after Angelina went barefoot on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday after suffering a painful accident the day before. The actress, 49, made her first late-night appearance in more than a decade to talk about her new Netflix movie Maria and her Tony award-winning production of The Outsiders: A New Musical. As she made her grand entrance into !the studio to a revised version of Dolly Parton's Jolene, it was immediately noticeable that Angelina wasn't wearing any shoes.And host Jimmy, 50, was quick to point out her naked feet soon after she took a seat.
'I noticed that you're barefoot,' he observed. 'Did you forget your shoes?' Explaining her outfit choice, Angelina revealed: 'I broke my toe yesterday and I tried to find a comfortable shoe, but I just decided not to.' 'No, you don't have to wear shoes!' Jimmy exclaimed. The French film is from director Alice Winocour and it will shoot in both French and English, according to Variety. Angelina 'stars in the movie as a filmmaker and is one of three women whose lives will collide during Fashion Week.The film is under Charles Gillibert's Paris-based banner CG Cinema. They will produce in partnership with Zhang Xin and William Horberg of Closer Media. Jolie was last in Paris for the filming of Maria, in which she played the iconic Greek opera singer Maria Callas during her final days in the 1970s. The movie world premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was celebrated by a eight-minute standing ovation. The thespian is tipped to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar her role in the film. She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2000 for Girl, Interrupted, with the star last nominated in 2009 for The Changeling. Angelina recently admitted winning an Oscar for Maria would be a bonus.The actress had the 'experience of a lifetime' starring in Pablo Larraín's biographical psychological drama about diva Maria, and although the Oscar hype is 'very nice', she feels like she has already been given 'the greatest gift' of making a movie with an 'extraordinary team of people' and anything else is a 'dream'. Asked about the Oscar buzz surrounding her film, she laughed to Best UK magazine: 'It means a lot that somebody thinks you did a good job. Right? That means everything to me. 'That kind of stuff is exciting and very, very nice. But I'm just so happy we were able to do this film. I'm genuinely so happy. 'I know it sounds like people say this, but really, this was an experience of a lifetime. I learned to sing and I embodied a woman that I respect. I was able to work with this extraordinary team of people. I feel like I've already been given the greatest gift. 'The audience seemed to respond well to it. Angelina Jolie confirmed the morbid career that she had studied in the past before her success as a movie star. The Maleficent actress, 49 - who recently debuted a new bird tattoo on her arm at the 2024 Gotham Awards on Monday - opened up about the topic on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. In a special preview ahead of Thursday's episode, the SNL alum told the star, 'You're an incredible actor, but I saw some things online.'I was wondering if I could ask you if these rumors are true of other careers that you might have had. I'd be interested to see if any of these are real.' After Angelina said she was also 'interested' to hear the rumors, Jimmy asked, 'First of all, is it true that prior to acting you were studying to become a funeral director?' The Oscar winner simply replied with, 'Yes,' before humorously adding, 'Doesn't it make sense though?'In regards to why she was initially drawn to the career, Jolie recalled, 'My grandfather died, and I remember thinking this is not how they should be. 'This should be a celebration of life. And since I'm not afraid of death and I was comfortable with it, I thought, "This would be a great career path for me... I could, like, make this better. I could do a thing here.' Fallon agreed with the actress by saying, 'We need more people like that,' and Jolie added, 'It's my fall-back career now.' Jolie's appearance on The Tonight Show on Thursday will be her first late night show in 10 years. The mother-of-six previously discussed wanting to be a funeral director during an appearance on 60 Minutes back in 2011. At the time, the star expressed, 'It sounds like this very strange, eccentric, dark thing to do but in fact I lost my grandfather and was very upset with his funeral.' 'How somebody passes and how family deals with this passing and what death is should be addressed in a different way. If this whole acting thing didn't work out that was going to be my path.' Jolie has been keeping busy while promoting her upcoming Netflix biopic, Maria, which is slated to become available on the streaming site on December 11. In October, the official trailer for Maria was released - and quickly ignited Oscars buzz among fans. During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Angelina talked about her children Maddox and Pax helping out on the film, Maria, as production assistants. The star notably shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, as well as twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with Brad Pitt. The pair married in 2014, but filed for divorce in 2016 before being declared legally single in 2019. However, Angelina and Brad are set to head to trial next year amidst a legal battle over their French vineyard. 'They were able to consider the relationships in the film and the violence - things that sometimes you don't have the opportunity to discuss with your sons, so I felt fortunate.' And while previously speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in August, she further reflected on her kids having the chance to gain experience on set. 'Mad and Pax were on this one. Doing AD [assistant directing] work. They've done that quite a few times, and I think that's good for them,' she stated. 'Pax tends to do stills and he gets brought in, and [director] Pablo was wonderful and recognized that he was good at it.' Jolie then expressed that she disagreed with Maria Callas' views on aging but praised the late opera singer's 'commitment' to her passion. 'I'm a hard worker. And a deeply feeling person. Maria is vulnerable because she feels and isn't sometimes able to protect herself from the loneliness or emotional pain. Because it's part of her life and work to be extremely human and live that way.' The actress added, 'You live through your communication with the audience. For Maria and for me that has always been extremely important.' As Jolie prepares for the official release of the film on Netflix, she is also amidst an ongoing divorce battle with ex Brad Pitt. The actor was recently ordered to hand over documents that could prove he had been abusive to Jolie and their children. It came shortly before a source told Page Six that Pitt 'is missing his kids and wishes he had a closer relationship with them, particularly with celebrating the holidays and his birthday this month.' Pitt - who is currently in a relationship with Ines de Ramon - will celebrate his 61st birthday on December 18. And on Wednesday, a separate insider informed DailyMail.com that Brad is 'begging his twins' to be with him to celebrate. The source added he 'loves his kids and it would mean the world to him to have them spend his special day with him.' 'But it is not looking so great so far. This comes as DailyMail.com has learned her ex Brad Pitt, 60, is 'begging' two of his six children to spent his 61st birthday with with him and his live-in girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 31, on December 18.'Brad loves his kids and it would mean the world to him to have them spend his special day with him,' a source told DailyMail.com.'But it is not looking so great so far. Some of the kids still talk to him, some do not. It is very tricky.'The former couple share three biological children - Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16 - as well as their adopted children Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, and Zahara, 19. It has been reported that Maddox and Pax do not talk to their father while Shiloh has gone so far as to have Pitt removed from her last name. 'I was so happy to be with them [on Maria], and definitely they saw me terrified, which is also a thing,' she said. 'You don't usually share so much vulnerability in front of your children, even really crying in front of them or being scared in front of them, so they were very protective.' The Gia actress shares Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox with ex Brad Pitt, whom she has battling through a nasty divorce for eight years. Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on September 20, 2016. In the past she has said when she felt pain over her Pitt split she cried only when she was alone in the shower. Angelina added in her Extra interview that playing Maria Callas allowed her to face her fears. 'I was very scared to sing and I was nervous to do things, but I also have always found it, you know, as an artist, you love things that scare you because it's a gift.' She also said, 'Ever since I was young, I think it's a real gift to be an artist. Jolie also shared what she is most thankful for after Thanksgiving, saying, 'Health of my family.' And her kids are proud of the hard work she put into Maria. 'So I think that that makes me very happy that they see that I work hard and it's just nice,' added the By The Sea director.
