When Salma Hayek turned 55 years old in September, she celebrated her birthday with a few friends, including Angelina Jolie. And that’s when the fun started.That was one birthday Salma Hayek will never forget.Last month, the actress turned 55 years old, sharing a video on Instagram celebrating with pals, including Angelia Jolie. Normal enough. But as she explained during the Oct. 14 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, none of them—including the Oscar winner—were actually invited. "There was no birthday party," she explained while appearing on the late-night show with her Eternals co-star Kumail Nanjiani. "All of those people were crashers. I said, 'I don't want a birthday party this year. I had to work all day.' Twenty-five people that I told them there is no birthday party showed up anyway." Hayek wasn't able to spend the day with her husband François-Henri Pinault or their kids (they share 14-year-old daughter Valentina and he has three children from previous relationships) due to her work schedule. As a result, Hayek explained, her pals "felt sorry for my loneliness" and just "showed up" at her house. Luckily, she already had a cake, so she introduced her guests to a Mexican birthday tradition: mordida."After you blow the candles, you have to—mordida means 'a bite'—you have to bite the cake with your mouth without your hands holding or anything," Hayek shared. "And then there's always one that comes and hits you and sticks your face inside the cake." And because Jolie, who is also in Eternals, was sitting next to Hayek, she got to do the honors."We told her that I was going to bite and that the tradition was this and she says, 'No, no. Oh no, I cannot do that.'" Hayek recalled. Fortunately, "She got over the nos." Though to her credit, Jimmy Kimmel joked, it was a "very gentle push."

The women of Marvel's upcoming superhero film The Eternals are skipping out on ELLE's 2021 Women in Hollywood Celebration after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19.Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan and Lauren Ridloff were all among the honorees at the high-profile event on Tuesday, but it was revealed during the event's opening remarks that the four wouldn't be attending out of an abundance of caution.'Those superheroes are now in super isolation,' ELLE Editor-in-Chief Nina Garcia shared from the stage, adding that it's 'the new reality,' according to The Hollywood Reporter.The actresses, along with the rest of the principal cast of The Eternals, all attended the world premiere of The Eternals, which was held Monday night at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood.Despite the exposure, none of the stars have so far tested positive for Covid-19, according to a Disney spokesperson in a statement shared with the publication.'Earlier today we were made aware of a possible exposure to Covid-19, and while all of our talent have tested negative, out of an abundance of caution, we are pivoting to virtual appearances rather than in-person events,' they said.It's not known if another member of the cast had tested positive, or if it was someone else who came into close proximity with the four women at the Hollywood premiere. The four women made up a large chunk of the honorees at the Women in Hollywood event, which was also celebrating Halle Berry, The Last Duel star Jodie Comer, Jennifer Hudson, Rita Moreno and fellow superhero star Gal Gadot.ELLE was celebrating the cast for breaking new ground in Hollywood, with Ridloff becoming the first deaf woman to play a Marvel superhero.Jolie has long been an advocate and activist for refugees when she isn't on set, while Hayek launched a campaign last year to battle domestic violence, which surged amid coronavirus lockdowns.Earlier this year, Chan took a stand to try to end discrimination against people of Asian origin as disturbing hate crimes against Asian rose in the wake of the pandemic.In their new Marvel film The Eternals, the quartet are joined by an all-star cast featuring Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan and Kit Harington.They play a race of immortal beings who have watched over the Earth for thousands of years to keep it safe from another alien race known as the Deviants.The film features a particularly diverse cast for the mostly white and male Marvel universe.The Eternals is co-written and directed by filmmaker Chloé Zhao, who won Oscars for Best Director and Best Picture for her critically acclaimed drama Nomadland.

Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt wore a dress on the red carpet for the first time at the Eternals premiere in Los Angeles on Monday. The 15-year-old student often wears slacks when joining her mother at public events, but opted for a new look as she posed outside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.Shiloh looked lovely in a tan hanky hem dress paired with white leather ballet flat shoes and gold anklets. Also at the event were her siblings Maddox, 20, Zahara, 16, and 13-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The only member of the Jolie-Pitt brood not in attendance was Pax, 17. Last year, Shiloh's father Brad Pitt was said to be 'so proud of Shiloh and who she had become' as he celebrated the teenager's 14th birthday. 'Brad is so proud of Shiloh and who she has become,' a source told Entertainment Tonight. 'He loves that she always stays true to herself and is so good to her brothers and sisters.' Meanwhile, Angelina spoke out about Shiloh's androgynous dress sense, saying her daughter considered herself to be 'one of the brothers'. 'She wants to be a boy,' she told Vanity Fair in 2011. 'So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers.'Apparently coining a new fashion term, she said: 'Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. Development on the film was initially announced in 2018, and its director, Chloe Zhao, signed on to work on the feature that September.Jolie joined the cast of the feature in March of 2019, and much of the other actors were added to its lineup over the next few months before filming commenced that summer.Principal photography took place in numerous locations over the course of the next few months before it eventually wrapped in February of 2020.The Changeling star also spoke about the on-set rapport that was established between the performers during her conversation with the media outlet, and noted that the film's director fostered interaction between the actors and actresses. 'It was certainly something that when Chloe [Zhao] says..."I want it to be this kind of a family for these reasons," she's somebody you can trust isn't saying that 'cause it sounds right as a director. The Salt star went on to express that she was happy to see several female leads exhibiting admirable traits for the movie's viewers.'A lot of times as an actress, you're that individual strong woman, or you have one sister; you don't often have this family where you really get to know women and see all the different strengths,' she said.She added: 'Gemma's grace and elegance and the way she walks through the world. Salma's motherhood and power, and Lauren's connection and intelligence...Maybe there's something to that, that the characters weren't as far off [from ourselves].' Eternals is currently scheduled to be released to the general public on November 5th.
