In 2006, Brad Pitt said he and Angelina would not get married until everyone in the country legally could, and on June 26, the Supreme Court supported marriage equality by striking down the Defense of Marriage Act and reinstating gay marriage in California. Now, insiders tell Vh1′s ‘The Gossip Table’ that Brad and Angelina have set a wedding date! Hollywood’s most powerful celebrity couple will reportedly walk down the aisle before the end of 2013! On June 26, the Supreme Court struck down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act, ruling that same-sex couples, legally married in a state, may receive federal benefits. Furthermore, same sex marriage is now legal in California again. Because of these monumental changes in America, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie allegedly feel it’s the right time to finally said “I do!” “The wedding of the century could be this summer,” Noah Levy, one of the co-hosts on Vh1′s The Gossip Table, said on June 27. “Brad and Angelina actually have set a date.”In 2012, Brad said his wedding with Angelina would be “simple” with “just family.” It’d be a clear departure from his 2000 nuptials with Jennifer Aniston, which reportedly cost $1 million.“You don’t know how much time you have left,” he told People magazine of his outlook for the future. “Make sure you enjoy the year more than ever.” (Getting married is definitely a great way to take advantage of the year!) Brad, 49, and Angelina, 38, officially became engaged in April 2012 after meeting on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004. They have three biological children together, 7-year-old Shiloh, and 5-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne. Brad adopted Angelina’s children Maddox, 12, and Zahara, 8, in 2006. Angelina adopted son Pax, 10, in 2007, and Brad co-adopted him in 2008.What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Brad and Angelina will get married this summer?

Angelina Jolie didn’t have to tell the world why she had been out of the spotlight for months. She could have said that she was just spending time with her large family or taking a much-needed break after years of working nonstop.Instead the actress chose to open up about her preventive double mastectomy. Jolie, who carries a gene that puts her at an elevated risk for breast cancer, explained her decision in a New York Times op-ed that sparked both support and controversy.Jolie’s ability to shape a national conversation while earning one of the highest paychecks in Hollywood makes her the most powerful actress on our Celebrity 100 list. Jolie ranks 41st overall with $33 million in earnings. Much of that comes from her upfront pay for the movie Maleficent, Disney’s new take on the old Sleeping Beauty story. Jolie stars as the wicked queen in the movie, which is scheduled for release next summer. The second most-powerful actress on our list is newcomer Jennifer Lawrence, who ranks 49th with $26 million. It’s hard to think of an actress who had a better year than Lawrence. She started 2012 with The Hunger Games, which grossed $690 million at the global box office, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. Lawrence was paid less than $1 million upfront for her work on the film but she made up for that with a much fatter paycheck to revisit the role of Katniss Everdeen for the sequel, Catching Fire. Then she won her first Oscar as Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook (it was the 22-year-old’s second nomination). The smaller movie turned a nice profit off its own, bringing in $236 million on a $20 million budget. Lawrence has a slew of blockbusters and art films on deck for the next year including X-Men: Days of Future Past and American Hustle from Silver Linings director David O. Russell and co-starring Silver Linings star Bradley Cooper.

Actress Angelina Jolie made her debut before the U.N.'s most powerful body as a special envoy for refugees Monday and urged the world's nations to make the fight against rape in war a top priority. She told the Security Council that "hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of women, children and men have been raped in conflicts in our lifetimes."Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. high commissioner for refugees, said the Security Council has witnessed 67 years of wars and conflict since it was established "but the world has yet to take up war-zone rape as a serious priority.""You set the bar," she told the council. "If the ... council sets rape and s e x ual violence in conflict as a priority it will become one, and progress will be made. If you do not, this horror will continue."British Foreign Secretary William Hague, who presided over the meeting, stressed that "in conflicts in nearly every corner of the globe, rape is used systematically and ruthlessly, in the almost certain knowledge that there will be no consequences for the perpetrators."Soon after Jolie spoke, the council adopted a legally-binding resolution demanding the complete and immediate cessation of all acts of sexual violence by all parties to armed conflict. It noted that s e x ual violence can constitute a crime against humanity and a contributing act to genocide, called for improved monitoring of sexual violence in conflict, and urged the U.N. and donors to assist survivors.Jolie, who has traveled extensively in her role as goodwill ambassador, recalled several of the survivors she had met — the mother of a five-year-old girl raped outside a police station in Goma in eastern Congo, and a Syrian woman she spoke to in Jordan last week who asked to hide her name and face "because she knew that if she spoke out about the crimes against her she would be attacked again, and possibly killed."Jolie pleaded with the Security Council — and all countries — to implement the resolution and not let the issue drop."Meet your commitments, debate this issue in your parliaments, mobilize people in your countries, and build it into all your foreign policy efforts," she urged. "Together, you can turn the tide of global opinion, shatter impunity and finally put an end to this abhorrence."Secretary-General Ban paid tribute to Jolie for being the voice of millions forced to flee their homes "and now for the many survivors of wartime rape whose bodies have been used as battlegrounds."
