'Maleficent 2' confirmed, new writer spills updates; Angelina Jolie drops role?

It is no surprise that Disney is currently developing a sequel to the 2014 hit film Maleficent. A writer has officially been hired to write the script, however Angelina Jolie's involvement in the upcoming film has not been confirmed yet.After its worldwide success last year, earning $758 million dollars from its $180 million production cost, Disney is now planning to make a Maleficent 2, a sequel to the movie which was about the sorceress villain in the classic story of Sleeping Beauty.Alice in Wonderland writer, Linda Woolverton was said to have been hired to write the upcoming film's script. Reports also suggest that Woolverton has been keeping the first movie's lead, Angelina Jolie, up to date with the details of the script.However, reports suggest that Jolie has not signed on any deal yet since she has not received any offer for it yet. "Nobody has asked me about that. I don't know," Jolie said. Although the actress did reveal that she did enjoy playing the role of the sorceress. "I can't imagine. I'm not dead, at the end of it. She's still there. I don't know. I loved playing her," she said.
Jolie also revealed that she will soon stop from acting in front of the camera to fully focus on working behind the scenes. "I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera." She said.But she also added that before she fully turns her back on the world of acting, there will be a couple of projects that she will take, and finish. "I see myself moving into directing more and doing much less as an actor," Jolie said. "I have a few more in me, ones I have been developing for some time, so I will do those before I step away." she added.Jolie is set to be back to voice the role of Tigress in Kung Fu Panda, and Salt. She is also currently working on the movie By the Sea which she stars along with her husband Brad Pitt.Maleficent 2 will be produced by Joe Roth, but it has also not been confirmed whether director Robert Stromberg will be back for the second film. More details about the upcoming movie are expected to be released in the coming months.

According to a bombshell new report from The National Enquirer, one of the issues that is tearing Brad and Angie apart is their 10 year old adopted daughter Zahara. Angelina is a basket case, and making everyone in the Jolie-Pitt house’s lives a living hell because she is scared that Zahara’s birth mother could take the child back, and Zahara wants to go!Angelia Jolie’s adoption of Zahara when she was just six months old has always been surrounded by scandal and controversy. Zahara was malnourished and on her death bed when Angie brought her back to the US, and nursed her back to health. It was originally reported that Zahara’s 18 year old mother died from AIDS, so she was an orphan. However, after the adoption had been finalized Zahara’s mother Mentewab Dawit came forward and revealed that she had not died, and her family gave her daughter away to be adopted because she ran away from home and they could no longer care for her.There has always been doubts about the validity of Zahara’s adoption after it was revealed that her birth mother was actually alive – and now that Zahara is older, she keeps telling Angelina that she wants to go home to Ethiopia to live with her “real mother.” That’s not unusual for adopted children, but it is concerning for Angelina since Zahara’s mother is very much alive – and it is unclear whether her adoption is even legitimate.
Brad and Angelina can’t seem to see eye to eye on how to raise their six children. An inside source dished to National Enquirer, “The kids flipped out when Vivienne landed a role in her mother’s film “Malificent.” Yet another bone of contention is that Shiloh has been tagging along with her mother on humanitarian work around the globe. Brad believes that Angie may be putting Shiloh in danger by taking her to refugee camps. Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie's decision to get both her breasts removed after testing positive for a gene associated with an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer has inspired many women to go for similar genetic testing, says a study.Jolie received widespread media attention two years ago when she told the public that she had tested positive for the gene BRCA1."Women who identified strongly with Jolie were more likely to get the genetic testing regardless of whether they had a family history of cancer than women who did have a family history of cancer but did not identify with Jolie," said study lead author Kami Kosenko, associate professor of communication at North Carolina State University in the US."The same was true of women who felt they had some sort of parasocial relationship with Jolie, meaning they viewed her as a friend. This means that Jolie's speaking out definitely had an impact," Kosenko said.The findings suggest that when it comes to a celebrity's impact on the public, that impact depends in part on the extent to which the public identifies with the celebrity."We put a questionnaire online within three days of Jolie's announcement, to see if the announcement influenced anyone's intention to get genetic testing," Kosenko said.For the study, 356 people from across the US completed the questionnaire, of which 295 were aware of Jolie's announcement.Of the 229 female study participants, researchers found that 30 percent intended to get tested to see if they carried the BRCA1 gene.

Angelina Jolie Pitt to Direct ‘Cambodia’ Movie With Netflix

Angelina Jolie Pitt is the latest top-tier talent to go the digital route, as the multihyphenate is working with Netflix on “First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers,” a film she will direct for the studio.The pic is based on a memoir from Cambodian author and human-rights activist Loung Ung about surviving the deadly Khmer Rouge regime.Jolie Pitt will direct and produce the Netflix project from a script she co-adapted with Ung. Cambodian director and producer Rithy Panh, helmer of the Oscar-nominated foreign-language film “The Missing Picture,” will also be a producer.The film will be made available to members of the streaming service in late 2016 and will be submitted to major international festivals.Ung was 5 years old when the Khmer Rouge regime assumed power over Cambodia in 1975 and began a four-year reign of terror and genocide in which nearly 2 million Cambodians died. Forced from her family’s home in Phnom Penh, Ung was trained as a child soldier in a work camp for orphans while her six siblings were sent to labor camps. Ung survived and wrote “First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers,” which was first published in 2000. Jolie Pitt read the book and contacted Ung over a decade ago. They became close friends and later adapted the screenplay together.“I was deeply affected by Loung’s book,” Jolie Pitt said. “It deepened forever my understanding of how children experience war and are affected by the emotional memory of it. And it helped me draw closer still to the people of Cambodia, my son’s homeland. It is a dream come true to be able to adapt this book for the screen, and I’m honored to work alongside Loung and filmmaker Rithy Panh.”Jolie Pitt’s Cambodian-born son, Maddox, will also be involved in the production of the film.
Netflix’s global reach was a major factor in Jolie Pitt’s desire to partner with the streaming service. “Films like this are hard to watch but important to see,” said Jolie Pitt. “They are also hard to get made. Jolie Pitt recently directed Universal’s “Unbroken,” based on the life of Olympian and World War II POW survivor Louis Zamperini.
